Get Started
Looking to get started in the community?
Before you read any of the resources below, know this – the DC startup community is an open community of designers, developers, strategists, and general entrepreneurs who know that the best way to ensure personal success is to work together. With that in mind, we work hard to grow our community of like-minded peers, and will do anything to help you – whether you’re a six-time entrepreneur, hacker, or someone who still has a 9-to-5 but dreams of the startup life. We’ve been in your position. And we know that the biggest step you can take is walking into that first event, sending that first email (to us
). We’ll do anything we can to show you what’s here in your area.
So how can you get involved?
- Reach out to one of us – we have a group of entrepreneurs who are happy to grab coffee/beers/cupcakes, tell you their story, and give you guidance on how to get started on anything related to the DC entrepreneurship community – whether it be looking for a gig, starting your own company, or just generally curious about what’s out there. Email us at ambassadors@proudlymadeindc.com – tell us your story, or just say Hi. Seriously, we want to talk to you. Now.
- Check out some of the startups – Our front page lists most of the startups in DC – we say most, because more are created every day. Try out their products, tell your friends, see who’s hiring. You’ll get a sense at some of the amazing things going on in DC by entrepreneurs just like you.
- Attend an Event – There are more events going on in a week than you’d ever have time for – for whatever specialty you have. Whether you’re a lean startup enthusiast, designing for a startup, a hacker/founder, or marketing a startup – there’s an event for you. Check out our community guide for a bit more.
- Follow us on twitter – We have a twitter account that we update sometimes. Most importantly, check out who we follow and our lists – explore the entrepreneurship community, we’re open to talking to you right here. @proudlymadeindc
